San Francisco History Museum Field Trips & Group Outings
Our field trip program (offered free of charge to all Bay Area schools) is designed to share the rich and varied history of San Francisco in fun, meaningful ways. The program includes a tour of the San Francisco History Museum and Visitor Center and offers a special discounted lunch option at The Golden Gate Grill. Tours can be adapted to any grade level, as well as to the special needs of any group.
We also offer guided tours and special discounted packages adapted to the particular interests of youth organizations, senior groups, and corporate groups looking for a unique outing and memorable experience.

Planning Your Field Trip
Make a Reservation
The first step is to make a reservation by phone.
Free Visits for Teachers
Once you’ve booked a field trip reservation via phone, the lead teacher can preview the museum for free up to a week before the date of the trip. When you arrive, tell the Information Advisor on the second floor that you are preparing for an upcoming field trip. Simply provide the name of the school you represent or show a copy of the confirmation e-mail you received from us, and the Information Advisor will sign you in free of charge.

Orientation
A docent will welcome your group to the museum, point out any special exhibits and demonstrations, and answer any questions you may have. The orientation will also cover logistical details and museum rules. Please plan approximately 15 minutes for the orientation.
The docent will not stay with you throughout your visit. However, docents are available around the museum to answer your questions, discuss exhibits, and lead demonstrations.
